Responding to Jesus

The curious crowds flock to Jesus for healing and to see miracles, but their amazement is different from saving faith. Jesus calls his disciples to be with him, and work with him in preaching the gospel of the kingdom. Finally, his family tries to control him and the scribes attribute his work to Satan. But, Jesus cannot be controlled or bound, rather he has bound Satan and has authority over him. Are you curious about Jesus? Are you a skeptic of his power and authority? Or have you been called to be with him and to go on mission?

Mark

The gospel of Mark tells us of the person and work of Jesus Christ. Under the inspiration of the Spirit, Mark presents Jesus as the Son of God and the suffering Servant sent to save his people. Mark stresses the authority of Jesus, his great sacrifice, and what it means to be his disciple. This book was given to make and encourage disciples of Jesus, and this sermon series seeks to do the same by proclaiming Mark's message for today's generation.

Tim Stephens

Tim Stephens is the senior pastor of Fairview Baptist Church. Tim grew up on a farm in Eastern Ontario and has graduated with a Computer Engineering degree from Queen’s University, a Masters of Divinity degree from Detroit Baptist Theological Seminary, and is currently pursuing his Doctor of Ministry in Expository Preaching at the Master’s Seminary. He is happily married to Raquel and they have eight children.
