Islam and the Bible

Does the Bible teach us how to behave and think in a world with increasing violence in the name of religion? This sermon looks at Romans 13 to see that government is supposed to punish the evildoer, not the church. As Christians we should support our government, military, and police as they work in our country and abroad to rescue the vulnerable and punish those who do evil.

For the church, our aim is different. Our answer to violent Islam is missions. Our response is not to take lives, but to give our lives for the sake of making Jesus Christ and his forgiveness known. We are not be cower in fear, but go forth on mission as radical followers of Jesus Christ. Radical in our prayer, sacrificial love, and proclamation of the truth.

Counter Culture

The mini-series "Counter Culture" deals with what the Bible says about homosexuality, gay marriage, abortion, violent Islam, and evolution. These are important issues that we must think about biblically and be prepared to give an answer to those around us.

Tim Stephens

Tim Stephens is the senior pastor of Fairview Baptist Church. Tim grew up on a farm in Eastern Ontario and has graduated with a Computer Engineering degree from Queen’s University, a Masters of Divinity degree from Detroit Baptist Theological Seminary, and is currently pursuing his Doctor of Ministry in Expository Preaching at the Master’s Seminary. He is happily married to Raquel and they have eight children.
